Duke Energy Tree Trimming Crews
Duke Energy contract crews will be pruning trees along electric lines located within the City of Tavares for the next three months (Oct, Nov, Dec). The main areas of trimming are listed below:
- Along US 441 and adjoining streets from SR19 to Lake Dora
- The neighborhoods between SR19 and Lakeshore Drive
- Along St. Clair Abrams Ave and Disston Ave and all east and west cross streets and alleyways
- Generally all streets downtown.
The tree crews will be cleaning up all debris associated with the maintenance activities. Part of the pruning activity will occur on lines located in the back lots which will require climbing. Duke Energy, Florida states they balance the need for reliable electric power with sensitivity for the environment and tree health. Tree crews use a technique known as directional pruning, which is endorsed by The National Arbor Day Foundation and the International Society of Arboriculture. This notification constitutes the notice required by Florida Statute 163.3209.
