Ready, Set, Run! is a character building, youth running program that trains children ages 8-13 to participate in a 5K run. It is a 12-week curriculum based program that combines physical training and goal setting, all in a non-competitive environment (curriculum provided by the National Alliance for Youth Sports).
Designed to help to fight childhood obesity, this program will improve confidence and instill positive values in our local youth, emphasizing physical activity to bring about positive impacts on learning, goal setting and accomplishing results. The curriculum also teaches children self-respect, commitment and builds self-esteem while focusing on character building and the impact of positive relationships.
Designed as a great P.E. opportunity for our local homeschool community, the Tavares Ready, Set, Run! Program is open for registration beginning August 6th and will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm – 2:00pm starting September 11th and going through December 1st. Program fees are $60 per child and due at the time of registration (limited to first 20 children to register). The program culminates at the Tavares Santa Shuffle 5K on Saturday, December 1st in downtown (race entry is included in the program fee). Participants will receive t-shirts, water bottles, prizes and completion awards!
