Sports Signups & League Play
Tavares Babe Ruth League
The City of Tavares offers youth baseball and softball for children ages 4-15 in both the spring and fall seasons. League play is held at both our Woodlea Sports Complex and Fred Stover Sports Complex; additional games are also held in neighboring communities.
REGISTRATION FEES:Fees for participation are $75 per child and birth certificates are required.
DATES FOR 2018 SPRING SEASON:
Registration for the 2018 spring season will begin on January 16, 2018 in the Tavares Recreation Department offices located at 123 N. St. Clair Abrams Avenue. You may also register on Saturday, January 20th and Saturday, January 27th from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Tavares City Hall located at 201 E. Main Street.
Games will start with our Babe Ruth League Opening Day Ceremony at Fred Stover Sports Complex on Saturday, March 3, 2018. The season will conclude with a Spring Fling Family Fun Day for all the kids and parents on Saturday, May 12th at Fred Stover Sports Complex.

Tavares Adult Co-Ed Kickball League
Are you looking for something as adults you can do that is fun, active, and where you can make new friends?
The Tavares Adult Co-Ed Kickball League is a wonderful opportunity to get out of the house, exercise and enjoy a game we all used to play as kids. Each team has between 9-20 players and games are played on Wednesday evenings at Woodlea Sports Complex.

Tavares Junior Tennis League
The City of Tavares has partnered with DTennis to offer a junior tennis program for children ages 5-12. Classes are held on Mondays at the Aesop's Park Tennis Courts. Spring and Summer sessions are coming soon.
SESSION #1: Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 22
SESSION #2: Monday, June 25 through July 13
SESSION #3: Monday, July 16 through August 3
At Camp Ascend, we put our focus into developing teamwork and leadership skills while inspiring your child's inner creativity! Each session will last 3 weeks during the summer and will be open to children ages 5 to 10 years old who have completed kindergarten.

Designed for seniors with a "playful" attitude, the City of Tavares created the Young at Heart Program to offer our 55+ community a chance to gather around the table to enjoy classic board games, light refreshments, cards and old-fashion fellowship.
Held weekly on Tuesdays from 1:00pm - 3:00pm in the Tavares Civic Center (located behind the Tavares Public Library) starting October 10th and running through May 1st, the Young at Heart Program is open to anyone who wants to have a good time with lots of games, goodies and giggles at no charge.

Tavares Senior Shakedown
Please join the City of Tavares and our senior citizen community as we offer a fun, entertaining and energetic afternoon of dancing, karaoke, games and more! Held on the first Monday of each month starting in November, this event is free to attend and sure to bring a smile to your face.

Community Recreational Opportunities
The Big House Sports Complex
Located at 1544 Lane Park Cutoff Road in Tavares, the Big House offers a variety of competitive and recreational sports opportunities. From senior citizen days and adult nights, to before/after school care for your kids, there is something for everyone at the Big House.
The Big House features 9 maple wood basketball courts that convert into 16 volleyball courts for a variety of play. They offer youth and adult leagues, clinics, camps and open play for all ranges of skill level.

Tavares Youth Football League
The Tavares Youth Football League is a private, volunteer-based organization offering a football and cheerleading program for children ages 7-14. They strive to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Tavares Youth Football (TYFL) programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives.
TYFL seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success. Specifically, TYFL seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with the fundamentals of football. TYFL strives to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness.

Golden Triangle YMCA
The Golden Triangle YMCA is a local branch of the Central Florida YMCA.
