Learn a New Language
Learn over 100 foreign languages from your home computer or mobile device with Pronunciator! Ask library staff for more information and about other language learning programs available at the library.
Mark Your Calendar for These Programs for Grownups
- Frayed Knot Knit and Crochet Club the 1st and 3rd Tuesday every month. All are welcome, from beginners to advanced and everyone in between are invited for coffee and conversation while working on your current project or beginning a new one in the Library Programming Area.
- Roots and Branches Genealogy Group the fourth Tuesday of every month at 2:00 p.m. except November & December. The group meets in the Library Programming Area.
- YOGA CLASSES
Take a break from your hectic day and pop into a free yoga class at the Tavares Public Library. Taught by Jennifer Stone, a certified yoga instructor and a member of the Friends of the Tavares Library. Class takes place in the Library’s Expansion. The Expansion’s refreshing atmosphere combined with Jennifer’s calming teaching methods will leave you feeling both inspired and rejuvenated. All levels welcome. Participants must provide their own yoga mat. For adults and seniors.- Chair Yoga the first Monday every month from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 pm
- Friday Yoga meets every week from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This class alternates between chair and mat yoga. Pick up a monthly library calendar or click the Calendar of Library Events link below for more information.
- SHINE the second Thursday every month from 10 a.m.-12 noon First come first served. Program does not accept appointments.
- Page Turners Book Club the 4th Tuesday every month. The March title is: The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. Call the library to reserve your copy for pickup. Read the book and then share and discuss your thoughts in the Library Programming Area.
- Musical Memories Concert on Wednesday, March 29 at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Programming Area. The 60s Sounds of Motown featuring Troy Harris on saxophone.
- Poetry Night on Thursday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Programming Area. Read and original work, a favorite by another poet, or simply listen to others read.
