The City of Tavares Public Library Advisory Board was created to govern, regulate and encourage organized activities of the library system operated by the City. The Library Board consists of 7 members with 2 year terms. 5 members must be residents of the City of Tavares and 2 members can be non-residents. Board positions are appointed by the Mayor.

Planning and Zoning Board
Board and Committee appointments are made by the Mayor of the City of Tavares. The Planning and Zoning Board terms of appointment are for three years (2020-2023), and the Library Board terms of appointment are for two years (2020-2022). Applications may be obtained by calling 352.742.6209 between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday, by emailing the City Clerk at email@example.com or by downloading the application from the city’s web site at www.tavares.org
