Hydro Drag Jet Ski Races
Date: June 1 & 2, 2013
Location: Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street, downtown
Racers negotiate a closed course (similar to a grand prix track). Spectator admission is free; there will be limited grandstands, so those can be had on a first come-first served basis. Therefore, fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs, don’t forget the suntan lotion. It’s going to be high-speed, full-contact, wave-busting warfare as some of the best watercross racers in the world will be in attendance.

4th of July Celebration - "It's a Grand Old Flag"
Date: July 4, 2013
Time: 3pm - 9pm
Location: Parade takes place on Main & Ruby Streets; Events and activities will take place at Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street, Downtown
Wooton Park festivities begin at 3pm. The Parade starts at 5pm at Main & Ruby Streets. Live entertainment, evening performance by VoicePlay, The Jimmy Sparks Band and Dance Depot. Kid's activities, Splash Park and great food. Fireworks begin at 9pm, weather permitting. FREE admission.

Rifles, Rails & History
Date: September 27 - 29, 2013
Location: Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street, downtown Tavares
"Rifles, Rails, and History: Steam Back to the North & South” will take place on the banks of Lake Dora in beautiful Wooton Park which is located within the Tavares Waterfront Entertainment District. This three day event will take guests steaming back to the Civil War period as they experience a living history encampment. The Orange Blossom Cannonball’s #2 Steam Locomotive will be featured throughout the weekend. The schedule of events will also include a parade, artillery and cavalry demonstrations, drills, historic presentations and exhibits, a ladies tea, and a formal ball.

Seaplanes of every size and description fly in from all over the country for a spooky splash-in featuring competitions such as the "Smashing Pumpkin Drop"! FREE Admission.

Howl-O-Fest
Date: October 26 & 27, 2013

Location: Downtown Tavares - Main & Ruby Streets
This event is hosted by the Tavares Chamber of Commerce. It includes hay rides, trunk-or-treat, entertainment and costume contests. Specific details will be available closer to the event.

Classic Raceboat Fall Regatta
Date: November 9 & 10, 2013
Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: Wooton Park, Lake Dora, Tavares
Several types of Classic Race Boats will perform exhibition flybys in a race-like setting on a 1½ mile oval course. Various racing heats every 30 minutes, throoughout the day, with Flatbottoms, Hydros and Skiffs.

Christmas Celebration & Parade
Date: December 7, 2013
Time: 4:00pm to 9:30pm
Location: Parade takes place on Main & Ruby Streets; Events & Entertainment will take place at Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street, Downtown
Wooton Park festivities begin at 4pm. The Parade starts at 5:30 pm at Main & Ruby Streets. Live entertainment, kid's activities, "ice" skating, "snow" storms, food vendors and a special appearance by Santa Claus. FREE Admission.

Time: Daylight start - Late afternoon weigh-ins

Staggered start beginning at 7:20 am. Final awards presentation on Saturday, January 5 at weigh-in, approximtely 4 pm at Wooton Park.

African American Heritage Festival
Date: February 1 & 2, 2013
The festival includes three events:
February 1, 6:00pm, Tavares High School Gym - There will be a free cultural event. The Community Choir will perform at 6pm and a dance performance will begin at 7pm. The Center for Contemporary Dance presents Moore Dance Project in "Reflections," a series of new contemporary dance works set to the soulful sounds of the Motown era.
February 2, 10:00am - The day begins with a parade down Main Street.
February 2, 11:00am - 4:00pm - Festivities continue at Wooton Park on the waterfront with ethnic foods, singing, dancing, gospel choirs and steppers,history and cultural learning, arts & crafts, rides for kids

Florida Hospital Waterman 5K Run
Date: February 17, 2013
Time: Registration starts at 6:30am; race starts at 7:30am

Florida Hospital Waterman Mission Team's 5th annual 5K is a competitive certified course 5K race and will be digitally timed and computer scored by Fleet Feet Sports.

No Duck Left Behind - Rubber Ducky Race & Festival
Date: March 9, 2013
Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Wooton Park, Lake Dora, Tavares
Adopt a duck and you could win a $5,000 College Scholarship at the Annual "No Duck Left Behind Rubber Ducky Race" at Wooton Park in Tavares, Florida. Hosted by the Educational Foundation of Lake County & proceeds benefit teachers and students in the Lake County Public Schools. A carnival positioned on the shores of Lake Dora is free to the public and will feature 50 booths from area schools with food, games and souvenirs as well as moonwalks, obstacle courses and slides. Rubber Ducks can be purchased in Lake County schools or by calling (352) 326-1265.

& Classic Car Show

Sunnyland Antique Boat Show
Date: March 22 - 24, 2013
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Wooton Park, Lake Dora, Tavares
The Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival is the largest show of its kind in the USA and is attended by more spectators over the four day period of the event than any other show. More than 250 boats are displayed in the water and on land. $5 gate fee.

Central Florida Dragon Boat Festival
Date: April 5 - 6, 2013
Time: Friday, 6:00pm; Saturday 9:00am
Location: Wooton Park, Lake Dora, Tavares
Friday night introduces Dragon Boat teams and includes "awaking the dragon" ceremony.
On Saturday, watch Dragon Boat Races with teams from the local area, as well as from around the country. Live entertainment by Chinese performers, food vendors. Gate fee: $3/adult and $2/children under 3 years old.

Planes, Trains & BBQ
Date: April 27, 2013
Time: 10am - 5pm
Location: Wooton Park, Lake Dora, Tavares
Air Show at 11am and 3pm
Classic Car Show on Main Street 10am - 3pm
Seaplane rides, state sanctioned BBQ competition and musical entertainment throughout the day.
Parking garage open on the corner of Maud Street & Sinclair Avenue. Free parking. FREE Admission.
Air show acts: Mark Sorenson's Tiger Airshows, Buck Roetman flying a Christen Eagle and John Black flying the American Champion 8KCAB Super Decathlon. Aerial acrobatics with planes "jumping" through rings, pilots performing precision acrobatics and free-fall nose dives. High-flying fun!
The Orange Blossom Cannonball steam train will offer robbery train rides. Tickets are $10 tax, per person. Tickets will be sold the day of the event only at the Orange Blossom Cannonball store at Main Street & St. Clair Abrams Avenue.

Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home
Date: May 18, 2013
Location: Main Street & Wooton Park, 100 E. Ruby Street, downtown
To honor our Vietnam Veterans for their years of service and sacrifice in the 40th anniversary year of the U.S. declared end of the Vietnam War. Come see the parade and join us in Wooton Park for a recognition ceremony. Keynote speaker is Capt. Charlie Plumb, USN(R), a POW who spent almost six years in captivity. Food, Music & Vendors.
