Recent & Upcoming Events

The Alternatives Public Meeting was held on July 26th in the City Council Chambers.  The meeting was attended by 73 members of the public and several locally-elected and appointed officials.  Please visit the Public Meeting Materials section to view the displays and other materials related to this event.

The Public Involvement Program will conclude with a Public Hearing and presentation of the recommended concept for City Council approval.  This event will take place at the regular City Council meeting beginning at 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2007.  The Public Hearing will begin with a brief overview presentation of the preferred design concept, followed by a public comment period that provides citizens an opportunity to address the City Council directly.  At the conclusion of the Public Hearing, the City Council will consider and discuss the project recommendations and the comments from the public.  If the recommendations of the Corridor Study are approved, the project documentation will be finalized to complete the study


Study Area

The limits of the study encompass approximately three miles of Alfred Street, commonly referred to as Old US 441.  The western limit is the intersection between Alfred Street and SR 19 in Downtown Tavares.  The eastern limit is at Bay Road, which is also the eastern limit of the City of Tavares.
