Come Celebrate Arbor Day with the City of Tavares on Saturday, January 20 from 10-3 in Wooton Park, Tavares.  


This years Arbor Day Celebration is a collaboration between the City of Tavares, UF/IFAS and Lake Soil and Water Conservation District. There will be tree give-aways - LSWCD is providing 500 chickasaw plum trees and Tavares Middle School Critical Thinking class will be supplying hundreds of Tabebuia saplings.  Duke Energy is sponsoring a birds of prey display and SECO Energy is also donating trees.  


Arbor Day celebration kicks off the Tavares 2018 America in Bloom urban forestry program for a future Tree City USA designation!

  • 10:30 am – Tree Dedication – Palm Garden Club of Tavares
  • 11:30 am – Pruning Techniques and Tools.  UF/IFAS Extension Agent, Brooke Moffis
  • 12:30 pm – From Feathers to Foliage. Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, Laura Vonmutius
  • 1:30 pm - Flowering Trees and Shrubs for Central Florida- Master Gardener
  • 2:30 pm – Tree Walk, a tree tour around Wooton Park.  Master Gardener
