Sports Signups & League Play 

Tavares Babe Ruth League
The City of Tavares offers youth baseball and softball for children ages 4-15 in both the spring and fall seasons.  League play is held at both our Woodlea Sports Complex and Fred Stover Sports Complex; additional games are also held in neighboring communities. 

REGISTRATION FEES: Fees for participation are $75 per child and birth certificates are required.

DATES FOR 2014 SPRING SEASON:
Games will start with our Opening Day Ceremony on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Fred Stover Sports Complex.  The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am with games beginning at noon.  the season will conclude with a Spring Fling Fun Day for all the kids and parents on Saturday, may 17th at Fred Stover Sports Complex.

Tavares Junior Tennis Program
Are you looking for something for your kids to do; that is fun, active, and where they will make new friends?

The Tavares Junior Tennis Program is for kids.  Using smaller rackets, easy to hit balls, and nets that fit their size, players will learn the game of tennis in fun and exciting new ways.

SPONGE BALL CLUB (3.5 - 4 year olds) Monday 3:00-4:00pm - $60 per 5-week session
RED BALL CLUB (5 - 7 year olds) Monday 4:00-5:00pm - $60 per 5-week session
ORANGE RALLY BALL CLUB (8 - 11 year olds) Monday 5:00-6:00pm - $60 per 5-week session
TEENAGER'S CLUB (12 & up) Monday 6:00-7:00pm - $60 per 5-week session

Tavares Adult Co-Ed Softball League
The City of Tavares invites all teams to participate this winter in its Co-Ed softball League. Team entry fee is $275. Games are held on Wednesday nights at Fred Stover Complex in Tavares.

RECREATION PROGRAMS

Tavares Summer Camp Program
Th
e Tavares Summer Camp is designed for children ages 5 - 10 and offered at the Ingraham Community Center.  Camp activities include swimming, roller skating, daily activities and special fields trips to exciting locations such as the Orlando Science Center, Jungle Zone, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, local parks and playgrounds. 

Registration will begin on Monday, April 21 at 8:00am in the Tavares Parks & Recreation office located at 123 N. St. Clair Abrams Avenue, Tavares, FL 32778.  For more information, please download our 2014 Parent Information Packet or call the Recreation office at (352) 742-6370.

YOGA Body Sculpting Classes
Yoga Body Sculpting is for all body types, fitness levels and genders.  A unique blend of circuit sculpting, stretching, low impact cardio, and toning will create a different, exciting workout with each class session.

Classes are held on Monday evenings from 6pm - 7pm in the TRA Room (located behind the Tavares Public Library).  The fee is $5 per class.

Tavares Senior Shakedown
Please join the City of Tavares and our senior citizen community as we offer a fun, entertaining and energetic afternoon of dancing, karaoke, games and more!  Held on the first Monday of each month starting in October, this event is free to attend and sure to bring a smile to your face.

Community Recreational Opportunities

The Big House Sports Complex
Located at 1544 Lane Park Cutoff Road in Tavares, the Big House offers a variety of competitive and recreational sports opportunities.  From senior citizen days and adult nights, to before/after school care for your kids, there is something for everyone at the Big House.

The Big House features 9 maple wood basketball courts that convert into 16 volleyball courts for a variety of play.  They offer youth and adult leagues, clinics, camps and open play for all ranges of skill level.

Tavares Youth Football League
The Tavares Youth Football League is a private, volunteer-based organization offering a football and cheerleading program for children ages 7-14.  They strive to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Tavares Youth Football (TYFL) programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives.

TYFL seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success.  Specifically, TYFL seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with the fundamentals of football. TYFL strives to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness.

Golden Triangle YMCA
The Golden Triangle YMCA is a local branch of the Central Florida YMCA.  Located at 1465 David Walker Road in Tavares, their purpose is to improve lives of all in Central Florida by connecting individual, families and communities with opportunities based on Christian values that strengthen Spirit, Mind and Body.
